Summary

The main purpose of this paper is to present a simulation model for the performance evaluation of Adaptive Rate Control for VoIP on Wireless Ad Hoc Networks. We use OPNET simulation to capture the characteristics of wireless channel and implement the speech coding standard AMR-WB. The basic idea of our rate control scheme is to adapt the voice coding bit rate to the available network bandwidth in order to maximize the quality of voice. The MOS value is evaluated by PESQ for the adaptive rate control. We design the ad hoc and adaptive control model to simulate our scheme. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of this scheme.
