Summary
This study addresses model-based analysis of peripheral blood pressure recordings measured non-invasively by finger-cuff volume clamp photoplethysmography. Advantages and limitations of competing mathematical models are discussed within the perspective of proposing computational methods for analyzing experimental data in clinical studies. In particular, the aim is to select a numerical modeling method for assessing non-invasively arterial characteristics such as peripheral vascular stiffness/compliance and resistance as well as short term variability of these physiological parameters.
