Call for Papers
2003 International Conference on Simulation and Multimedia in Engineering Education (ICSEE'03)

Part of the 2003 Western MultiConference

Sponsored by:
The Society for Modeling and Simulation International (SCS)

January 19 - 23, 2003

Marriott Orlando Airport
Orlando, Florida

The mission of the ICSEE'03 conference is to further the interests of the computing professionals and educators engaged in the development of new computing applications, interdisciplinary application areas and applied research in support of education. As such, it provides experts, instructional technology researchers and practitioners with an avenue for discussion and exchange of new ideas in innovative application fields related to modeling, simulation, multimedia and allied technologies for engineering education.

Major topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

Development of multimedia models and their application in engineering education
Multimedia technologies for engineering education
Integrating voice- and video- based systems in teaching and learning
Distance learning, distributed learning and Web-based instruction
Wireless multimedia systems and applications for teaching and learning
New educational paradigms:
virtual classrooms
tele-immersion
networked tele-collaboration
Web television
Internet-based visualization, on-line courses, integration of Internet resources in the curriculum
Computer assisted collaborative learning
Virtual reality and potential applications in engineering education
Distance education
experience at schools, universities, industry and other academic fields such as arts, engineering, business, medicine
Modeling and simulation for engineering education
Classroom simulations using computer animation
Java applet-based simulations for engineering education
Simulation languages, packages, and simulation-based curricula
Computer-based and simulation-integrated laboratories
New software and hardware developments and their impact on engineering education
Experiences in integrating computers and software tools in engineering education
Evaluation of student performance in computer-based education
Ethics and engineering education
Government and corporate programs in support of computer- and multimedia-based engineering education

We solicit original papers for possible publication in topical areas related to the items listed above or other topics related to the fast growing area of modeling (both analytical and computational), simulation and visualization (and their comparison with experiments and observations), and simulation and multimedia-based engineering education. Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend the conference, present their work to their peers, transfer copyright, and pay a conference registration fee at the time of submission of their final paper in PDF form. Extended versions of accepted papers in ICSEE'03 will be considered for possible publication in scholarly journals.

For Key Dates, submission guidelines and other information see the ICSEE web site at http://icsee.csr.unibo.it/ICSEE03/.
