Message from the Director of the McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences (MISS) John Sculley wrote in his book “Odyssey: Pepsi to Apple … A Journey of Adventure, Ideas and the Future” already in 1987 that “Simulation may be the ultimate destiny of personal computing. It lets us say,‘what if we were to try this’… based on some set of assumptions we can define.” As a matter of fact, at this time more than 20 years later, the dilemma is not whether to simulate or not to simulate. But in today’s reality, can you afford not to? As formulated by the Founding Director of MISS, Prof. Ralph Huntsinger, the McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences (MISS) is an initiative of the Society for Modeling and Simulation International (SCS) aimed at the promotion of the worldwide application of simulation. The Institute is named after Mr. John McLeod, the founder of the Society and the first editor of its journal, "SIMULATION". The MISS consists of co-operating Centers active in professionalism, research, education, and knowledge dissemination in the modeling and simulation (M&S) domain.[...]
