SCS Membership—FAQ SCS is the premier technical Society dedicated to advancing the use of modeling & simulation to solve real-world problems; devoted to the advancement of simulation and allied computer arts in all fields; and committed to facilitating communication among professionals in the field of simulation. To this end, SCS organizes meetings, sponsors and co-sponsors national and international conferences, and publishes the SIMULATION: Transactions of The Society for Modeling and Simulation International and the Journal of Defense Modeling and Simulation magazines. SCS is continuously improving the services provided to its members. A FAQ on membership has been created and will be included in each issue of the newsletter. If you have questions about SCS membership please do not hesitate to send an email to newsletter@scs.org. Your question will be answered and included in the FAQ list. |

Beginning of a Journey: Towards Establishing a Center for Complex Systems Modeling and Simulation (CeCOSM) An exciting aspect of working in the Life Sciences domain is the possibility of using modeling and simulation tools to tackle real-world problems. What started in the Fall of 2008 as an informal collaboration of the (subsequent) SCS Chapter coordinator Muaz Niazi with peer faculty members at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) has lead to fruitful and exciting collaborations in the domain of modeling and simulation for life sciences. Initial collaboration was based on co-supervised projects in the domain of modeling and simulation pertaining to Bioinformatics. Subsequently, we were joined by three of our MS students to form the first Asian Chapter of the Society for Modeling and Simulation (SCS). [...] |
